Help! hoping someone has maybe had a similar issue…..My Father is in a care center which till now has allowed him to use his electric mobility chair as long as he operates it with care. They have had issues with him accidentally hitting his joystick on the scooter and bumping into people /things. Its also not unusual for him to fall asleep while operating the chair and running into things/people. He’s in danger of losing use of his chair if it’s not corrected, which would push him further into depression and behavior problems. I’m looking for ideas that would “cover” the joystick or to “put it to sleep” so to speak. Maybe require a heat signature from his hand to activate or a fingerprint to activate.
Unfortunately, the electric wheelchairs that are sold now-a-days are not going to offer any solution for your father. If you find an electrical engineer to customize one for you, that might be an option.
